The Carsey-Wolf Center was founded in 2001. It is dedicated to research and teaching based on the philosophy that film, television and new media are best studied in the context of an intensive and broad-based liberal arts education.

The Center brings together faculty and students from a wide variety of departments including but not limited to Black Studies, Communication, English, Media Arts and Technology, and Sociology. It is anchored by the Pollock Theater, a state-of-the-art public film theater with year-round programming.
