Tara Miele


Tara Miele graduated from UCSB in 1999 with a double major in Film and Theater Studies. As an undergrad, Miele acted in an award-winning Reel Loud project, worked as a writing tutor at CLAS, and directed her student film, Miss Gentilbelle, which earned several grants and awards including the Corwin-Metropolitan Theatres Award. Additionaly, Tara worked as an intern for Jodi Foster’s Egg Pictures and got her first taste of production as an intern/PA for “Sam Churchill: Search for a Homeless Man” starring Duke’s of Hazzard’s John Schneider.

After graduation, Tara started working in the industry as a development assistant at the Kushner-Locke Company and for HBO while continuing to write and direct her own work. During that time, Tara’s short films screened at festivals around the world and she began working as a screenwriter for many reputable companies including: Disney Channel (UNPLUGGED), New Line Cinema (COVER YOUR ASSETS) Gold Circle Films (COUGARS), and Silverwood FIlms (TITS).

In 2010, Tara completed her first independent feature as a writer/director. starring Ross Partridge and Kay Panabaker, earned Tara a place on Raindance Film Festivals list of the Top Ten American Indie Filmmakers to Watch. The film was also awarded the Spirit of Moondance at the Moondance Film Festival; and Best Screenplay and Best Ensemble (Acting) at the Phoenix Film Festival.

In 2013, Tara completed post-production on her second indie feature, 18 & MISSING, starring Daphne Zuniga, Lauren Bowles, Gage Golightly, and Bridgette Davidovici for Mar Vista Entertainment. She also recently began drafting another screenplay for Mar Vista, THE STARVATION PACT, slated to shoot in July. Additionally, Tara is closing a deal to write a project for Lionsgate (with friend and partner Cindy McCreery), slated to shoot in fall. She’s doing all this while eagerly awaiting the arrival of her second daughter, who is slated to arrive in April 2013.
