Daniel Schnider

Daniel Schnider began his career in the film business at United Talent Agency, working his way up from the mailroom to Junior Agent in the Motion Picture Literary Department. While working closely with writers and filmmakers, Schnider discovered that his creativity and passion for movie making were best suited for development and production. He moved to Sandbox Entertainment, where he spent four years running the production company and set up financing for numerous projects. Sandbox, founded by Noah Emmerich, had a first look deal with New Line Cinema where they put a number of projects in development. Daniel left Sandbox to pursue independent producing and flex his entrepreneurial muscles. In 2007, Schnider took the position of Head of Content at Blowtorch, an entertainment and new media company making films, shorts and web series aimed at the college demographic. He was the Executive in Charge of Production on “Tenure,” a comedy starring Luke Wilson set for release in 2010. Daniel developed and produced 7 short films for Blowtorch, and also handled feature acquisitions and branded entertainment development for the web. Currently, Schnider is the Head of Development & Production for Dr. Dre’ s film and TV venture known as Crucial Films. Concurrently, Daniel has just wrapped production on a comedy project for Sony entitled “Backwash.” This project, which Schnider produced, will air as a webisode on Sony’s web platform (crackle.com) and also be distributed worldwide as a feature film on DVD. “Backwash” features an all star roster of talent including: Jon Hamm, Sarah Silverman, John Cho, Allison Janney, Jeff Ross, Michael Ian Black, Fred Willard, Hank Azaria and many more.

A native Angeleno and graduate of University of California Santa Barbara in History, Schnider spent a year abroad in Barcelona, Spain prior to joining the Los Angeles film community.
