Biography
Courtney White is Lecturer at the University of Santa Barbara, with concurrent appointments at Loyola Marymount University and Chapman University; she has also taught at the University of Southern California and Pomona College. Her research interests include animal studies and animal welfare, censorship, and animation, She is currently working on an article on the use of animals in Jordan Peele’s Nope as well as a book manuscript on animal welfare in Hollywood. She has published in Cinema Journal (now the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies), Spectator, and The Historical Animal (ed. Susan Nance, Syracuse UP, 2016).
