Seminar examines the origins and development of Hollywood’s many preoccupations with youth, including as on-screen protagonists and off-screen consumers. Issues we’ll explore include: the terms and meanings of “youth film” and “youth culture”; the conventions and themes associated with youths; and the various ways filmmakers have sought to attract youth. Satisfies seminar requirement.
